Economic Wierdness

The government is making plans for a stimulus that includes spending a ton of money to create jobs. Seems the government considers jobs to be really important; a priority with which I happen to agree.

So the automakers appear in Washington with their plans, appealing for loans; plans which include laying off thousands upon thousands of workers. Their plans also include closing several thousand dealerships, which means many more thousands of jobs lost.

Am I the only one who sees insanity in this?

That's not insane. What is insane is keeping a jobs bank that pays people for not working. Having 1000 more dealerships and car models than you really need, competing with each other for a smaller and smaller slice of the pie. Not paying attention to the competition and see what they are doing right. Not paying attention to the customer to see what they want. Paying "bonuses" for failing leadership and lost value.

So you want to use your tax dollars to support those jobs and dealerships etc ad nauseum so they can have 'employment'? Ok. go ahead.

Personally, at the rate they are spending money, I think the auto companies will go through the amount they are asking for quickly and then will be at the same point they are now. Chaos postponed.
