I Lived Too Long

The price of gasoline dropped to $4.15/gal and the Dow Jones shot up like a rocket. When the price of gasoline rose to $4.15/gal, the Dow Jones dropped like a brick in a millpond.

Texas Tech is paying its (college) football quarterback a salary of $5 million per year. Additionally, he can also sell the use of his "name image and likeness" for advertising for several to tens of million more dollars. The NCAA suspended his eligibility due to his gambling on college football games, including his own team, which is outlawed by NCAA rules. A court of law forced his reinstatement, because his gambling did not harm the NCAA.

Several California schools are now members of the Atlantic Coast Conference. News flash: California is on the Pacific Coast, not the Atlantic. The Big 10 Conference and the Big 12 Conference each have 16 teams. Better television coverage and more money for the schools.

Californians voted in 2008 to spend $33 billion to build a high speed railroad from Los Angeles to San Francisco. It is now being reported that what we will spend and what we will get is $231 billion for a high speed railroad from Bakersfield (pop. 425,000, 113 miles from LA) to Merced (pop. 98,000, 131 miles from SF). But that's not true. The railroad will stop in empty desert about 50 miles short of Bakersfield, and in open farmland about 80 miles short of Merced.  Literally the "high speed railroad to nowhere." From 2008 until now, some $18 billion has been spent and not one foot of rail has been laid, but Governor Newsome and the CA legislature refuse to even consider dropping the project.

I won't even go into "The Peace President" and Venezuela, Cuba, fishing boats, or starting and stopping a war in Iran some 20 times.
