Voter/State Greed

Last month I wrote War Between The States concerning the divisiveness of the public's focus on their federal politicians "bringing home the bacon" to their various states, and the willingness of politicians to buy into and campaign on that topic.

The Las Vegas Sun ran a major piece on Harry Reid Sunday, not on his performance as Senate Leader, not on his performance in the realm of national governance, not on his ability to lead the Democratic Party, but on how well he has served the greed of the people of his state.

...offering this hypothetical conversation:
“‘You should have brought more.’
“‘OK, what should I have brought?’
“‘Well, you know, more.’”

They apparently would rather have a junior Senator who is not in a position of leadership and national prominence, but who can "bring more" to their state.
